提升閱讀力花縣學生英語競賽實施十年


提升國際語言能力,花蓮縣從十年前自行辦理英文閱讀能力競賽,今天就在鑄強國小舉行閱讀、作文及造句比賽全縣國小到高中職都有學生參加,國教英語輔導團校長張裕明說,讓孩子在每個階段都有參與的機會。
花蓮縣一百年度學生英語文閱讀能力競賽今天登場,參賽學生從國小、國中到高中職都有,共有466人參加,競賽項目包括英文閱讀、造句及作文,參賽選手經過學校初賽後,代表學校參加縣賽,而每個選手只能參加一種,縣府教育處社教科長翁書敏表示,藉由競賽鼓勵學生全方位、有效的學習英文,不僅在年底有靜態的閱讀比賽;五月份也舉辦動態的話劇、演講等競賽
推動英文競賽的國教輔導團召集人張裕明校長表示,藉由競賽讓各校重視英文的學習,也能發掘教學創新的老師,語文的學習可以很活潑,重點就是讓學生樂在其中
張裕明表示舉辦十年來,各校都相當重視這項競賽,參賽學生也越來越多,同時結合縣內的大學等學校老師資源,共同提升教學品質,也一起為學生的英文學習力加分。今天競賽結束後,將馬上進行閱卷,獎勵優勝的選手及指導老師。

Reflection on Senior High Sanmin Unit 5 Teaching

Lesson: Sanmin Senior High Unit 5: Blame it on Brain


My peers' prepared some interesting teaching ways. Since some other classmates gave some suggestions to their teaching demonstration. I would revise the activity a little bit in the following. 


1. Use "Monopoly" to review vocabulary.


a. Separate students into several groups.


b. Ask students to come to the front and flip the coin. If it's head, they can go forward two steps. If it's tail, they can only move one step.


c. There are seven letters. Each letter has some questions about the vocabulary. The teacher can prepare multiple choice questions for students. 
For instance, "What is the ____ of the baby?"
A. expert
B. theory
C. sex
D. gap


The teacher can ask students to pick the correct answer to fill in the blank. If they give wrong answers, they have to go back to "start".


2. A clip about gender differences


a. The teacher prepared an interesting clip about stereotype for students to talk about typical impressions we have on genders. This activity can be served as a warm up. 






b. The teacher can prepare a handout for students to write down the information.

c. After watching the video twice, the teacher can ask students to share what they have seen from the clip.


3. Organize the reading by providing a graph. 


a. After teaching the main text, the teacher can provide an organized graph for students to understand the whole structure of the reading.

補救教學 明年9月改評量指標


(中央社記者許秩維台北19日電)教育部今天表示,明年(2012) 9月起,小一到國三的補救教學評量指標將從現行成績後35%,改為教育部制訂的基本學習內容,如小三應該要會英文字母;如未達標準,就需接受補救教學。
12年國教將在民國103年正式上路,為確保學生的基本學力,首批適用的國一新生上學期已開始篩選測驗,進行補救教學。教育部今天舉行的師資培育大學主管聯席會議也針對補救教學說明具體措施。
教育部國民教育司表示,國一新生今年9月到10月先進行篩選,針對有需求的學生進行補救教學,隔年的2到3月、6到7月會再進行成長追蹤測驗,目的在檢核補救教學的成效。
國教司表示,小一到國三補救教學評量指標明年9月將從現行的成績後35%,改為教育部制訂的基本學習內容;現在已請教學現場老師和專家學者擬定基本學習內容,以具體指標衡量學生是否需接受補救教學,如小三必須會英文字母,未達基本能力,就得接受補救教學。
國教司指出,未來補救教學的重點科目包括國、英、數等工具學科,明年4到5月將公布補救教學基本學習內容,9月開始採基本學習內容為補救教學評量指標;各校除了可用課餘時間進行補救教學外,也可視情況利用一般上課時間抽離做補救教學。

Reflection on JoyHanlin Unit 6 Teaching

Lesson: JoyHanlin Junior High Unit 6: How Much Sugar Do You Need?


From my peers' teaching demonstration on unit 6, I quite like some ways they employ to teach the lesson.


1. Use realia to teach vocabulary (food and containers). 


a. On page 68, there are some food and containers. To introduce those things, my peers choose to bring realia to the class. (補68)




2. Make a checklist to match "food and containers".


a. After teaching students about the food and containers that are used to contain the food, the teacher can make a chart for students to match the food and containers together. It's a way to help them to review the usage.






3. Teach "Challenge" on page 74 through group activity. (補74)


a. The teacher can separate students into several groups and carry out the activity through "group competition".


b. For the first question, the teacher can prepare fake money for each group. Then, after reading the question, the teacher can ask them to give the right amount of money to the teacher.


c. After they are done with the three questions, the teacher can conceive more questions and make good use of the fake money. Also, the teacher can recycle the food and containers by thinking of some questions that would use those words. (E.g. Today is Friday. Tom wants to buy two bottles of juice. So how much should him pay? )
